Our daily routine

I knew it was never going to be a holiday. I had to work in the morning, even if hampered by extremely slow internet, as a large translation project is due in mid-November and I couldn’t take a month off. There were things to be done around my mother’s house, but the decluttering project I had in mind met with great opposition.

There was always time to walk the dogs. Mainly around the Memorial Park, but we did go down to the River Severn and the canal basin. A really pleasant way to spend a late summer evening.

One of the locks
The River Severn. Training night at the rowing club

Views around the canal basin. There is even a yacht club, but rather different from Puerto Sherry.

On the second Sunday we went to Hartlebury Castle. It used to be the home of the bishops of Worcester. The C of E wanted to sell the land for a housing development when the bishop was sent to live in a house in Worcester. The local residents got together and raised enough money to buy the land, set up a trust and it is now open to the public. Great woodlands to take the dogs for a walk and they also hold concerts, etc in the grounds in summer.

Hartlebury Castle from the front
From the back along the nature walk beside the lake in the old moat. Ducks and herons. And a reserve with mute swans.

And if the acorns were anything to go by, it is going to be a hard winter….

And it was the earliest I have ever seen holly berries out…

Next time…. Pembrokeshire and the highlight of the trip!
